John Corbett was a member of the Clarinbridge Company in the Galway Brigade of the Irish Volunteers. He was appointed Brigade Transport Officer by Liam Mellows during the Easter Rising and participated in operations at Clarinbridge, Oranmore and Athenry, amongst other locations. He was subsequently captured and interned until December 1916, having spent periods in Wakefield Prison, Wormwood Scrubs and Frongoch prison camp.
