James Tallon (Seamus Ó Tallamháin) was a member of B Company in the 1st Dublin Battalion of the Irish Volunteers. He helped to man barricades at Cabra Bridge and the North Circular Road at the beginning of the Easter Rising. The positions came under heavy attack and, whilst retreating to the GPO on Tuesday, Tallon and a small number of Volunteers entered the house of Dr. Henry Dixon on the North Circular Road. They were soon surrounded and forced to surrender. Tallon was afterwards interned in Wakefield Prison and Frongoch prison camp. He rejoined the Volunteers after his release in December 1916 but did not take part in any subsequent conflicts.
