An electrician with B Company in the 4th Dublin Battalion of the Irish Volunteers, Michael Mervyn was based in the South Dublin Union during the Easter Rising. He was court-martialled following the surrender and sentenced to death on 3rd May, but this was commuted to ten years penal servitude. He was interned in Lewes and Pentonville prisons before he being released in June 1917.
