A native of Fermanagh and member of C Company in the 3rd Dublin Battalion of the Irish Volunteers, Owen Greene was based in Boland’s Mill and Grand Canal Street during the Easter Rising. Wounded on Friday, 28 April, he was brought to Sir Patrick Dun’s Hospital before being transferred to Dublin Castle Hospital and later Kilmainham Military Hospital until his release in July 1916. He was arrested twice over subsequent years for participation in Volunteer activities, taking part in a hunger strike on one occasion. He later became involved in the republican courts and police.
