Richard K. Gibson was a member of F Company in the 1st Dublin Battalion of the Irish Volunteers. After transporting supplies from Liberty Hall to the GPO on Easter Monday, 1916, Gibson took up a position in the Vitriol Works near Annesley Bridge. He returned to the GPO on Tuesday and was wounded on Friday evening whilst taking part in The O’Rahilly’s charge along Moore Street. Following his release from Dublin Castle hospital, he was sent to Knutsford Jail and was later transferred to Frongoch prison camp. He rejoined the Volunteers upon his release in 1917 but left two years later owing to poor health.
