In addition to serving as a secretary to James Connolly, Thomas Kain was a lieutenant and Director of Mobilisation with the Irish Citizen Army (ICA). He was part of a group that seized and occupied a guardroom during the attack on Dublin Castle on Easter Monday, 1916, before retreating to Lahiff’s shop on Castle Street.
