A shopkeeper, James Joseph Casey was a member of C Company in the 3rd Battalion of the Irish Volunteers’ Dublin Brigade. He participated in the Easter Rising, serving in Jacob’s Biscuit factory for the duration of the week. He was subsequently arrested and spent a period interned in Frongoch prison camp before being released in December 1916.
