Laurence James Lawlor served as a section commander in A Company of the 1st Dublin Battalion of the Irish Volunteers. Based in the Four Courts area during the Easter Rising, he was stationed at Church Street and Broadstone Railway Station throughout the week and also took part in the burning of Linenhall Barracks. Lawlor was interned in Frongoch prison camp until December 1916 and subsequently rejoined his old Company. He participated in a number of raids before the War of Independence but played a limited part in the conflicts of subsequent years.
